Durbin Bennett Tax Advisors, a respected employee-owned firm in downtown Austin, is hiring a full-time Tax Advisor to join our collaborative and experienced tax team. This is a fantastic opportunity for early-career professionals looking for hands-on experience, mentorship, and long-term growth.

🔍 What kind of firm is Durbin Bennett?:

  • We are a 38-year-old professional services firm focused solely on federal/state income tax and estate/gift tax planning. We perform no attestation (audits, reviews, compilations, etc.). We are a tax-only professional firm.
  • We have a unique structure, which includes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This structure was groundbreaking in professional accounting and has been adopted by the Firm for over 10 years.
  • We focus primarily on income tax and estate planning matters for high-net-worth families, complex pass-through entity taxation, and real estate.

🔍 What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare and review federal and state tax returns (individuals, trusts, partnerships, corporations)
  • Analyze financial data and support strategic tax planning for clients with interesting and complex tax positions
  • Collaborate with team members and clients directly 
  • Gain exposure to a variety of industries and entity types

🎯 What We’re Looking For:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent license, or actively pursuing CPA
  • 1-3 years of tax preparation experience
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting with an emphasis in Tax preferred, or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with sufficient hours to qualify for the CPA Exam
  • Strong Excel and tax software skills 
  • Eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment 
  • U.S. work authorization required
